Lucia Roh

Hyunsil Roh known as "Lucia", was recently appointed as the conductor of the Coquitlam Youth Orchestra's Intermediates after serving as the junior's conductor for 6 years. Additionally, she holds the position of the first violinist of the Pro Nova Ensemble and a faculty member at Vancouver Symphony Orchestra School of Music. Prior to arriving in Canada in 2015, she was selected to be a teaching artist in Korea Arts and Culture Education Service's El Sistema program. As a teaching artist, she participated in research and editorial supervision of orchestral repertoire, and also presented masterclasses for the instructors of El Sistema-Korea to help develop their teaching skills.

Lucia completed a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in violin performance at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with a minor in music education and string pedagogy. She also holds a Master of Music degree from the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, and a Bachelor of Music degree in violin performance with distinction from the Eastman School of Music. She has received Suzuki teacher training certification in San Diego.
