Lumena Daniel

Lumena Daniel

Lumena Daniel has always had a love for music. At the age of 6 (upon the suggestion of her kindergarten teacher) she began taking voice lessons and immediately began to excel. As her skills grew so did her passion, which led her to pursue music and the arts into adulthood; as a teacher, performer, and advocate for the arts. Her studies earned her a Bachelor’s Degree in Classical Voice Performance, further obtaining a Bachelor of Education degree, as well as participating in many other music courses and workshops at the University of Western Ontario, University of Toronto, York University, and The Royal Conservatory of Music, respectively. Lumena’s professional performance experience is varied; from the occasional wedding or bar show to full scale operas (Die Zauberflöte, Die Fledermaus). Her favourite theatre credits include Princess Winnifred in Once Upon a Mattress, Marty in Grease, Joanne in RENT, and The Narrator in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (BRAVO! Award nominee for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Musical). Over the last 18 years, Lumena has shared her love of music through teaching hundreds of students as a voice teacher, workshop instructor, camp counsellor, and music director. She is proud of the 18 years she has spent with various theatre youth groups as an instructor and music director for over 16 productions. Some highlights include Pirates of Penzance, Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid (BRAVO! Award winner for Outstanding Musical Direction), Fame, and Into the Woods. Her private students have successfully completed Royal Conservatory of Music examinations in voice, piano, and music rudiments. They have also won numerous festivals and competitions, in both classical and musical theatre categories, many of them advancing to the provincial level. Lumena has been proud to see several students go in to classical and jazz performance programs in various universities and colleges, as well as musical theatre programs at Sheridan, St. Lawrence, AMDA (New York City), Randolph Academy, Humber, and St. Clair College.
