Manojie Gunasekera

I was introduced to the wonderful world of music from the young age of 4 in both violin and piano. Growing up with music I had the opportunity to join the Philharmonic Orchestra of Sri Lanka at the age of 13 while further pursuing and completing my studies in both violin and piano. In my 25 years of teaching, I have developed a passion and personal commitment to three things: Fostering a positive learning environment for students with various backgrounds, developing students’ performing level and conducting a creative lesson while focusing on correct technique. I believe that the best way to enrich one’s life is through music. I am very fortunate that I grew up with music surrounding me, and one of my main goals within my career is to introduce the magic of music to others. No matter your age, music will be able to teach something about yourself that you never knew, and I love being a part of the process! I am very excited about teaching multiple genres of music with the violin & Piano, and hope to educate the masses regarding the importance of music in one’s life. Some of my achievements include: Diploma in Violin performance (LRSM) and Advanced certificate in Piano Performance form The Royal Schools of Music, UK. Pursuing my studies further I also earned my
 Diploma in violin performance (LGSM) from The GuildHall School of Music, UK. Winning the “String category”British and International Federation of Festivals for Music, Dance, and Speech;
Scholarship to an orchestral training program directed by Andrew Sherwood in Hertfordshire, UK.
 Winner of an orchestral training string quartet composition competition. I was also a Gold and silver medalist in string, piano, and woodwind category for Descant Recorder, Violin & Piano in Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Education’s All Island Music competition.
 I have been Performing with many orchestras in Sri Lanka, Singapore and Canada for the past 30 years. .
