My goal is to inspire students to play at their highest level and always enlarge their skills, enjoyment and capability. The greatest outcome of lessons is to become a lifelong musician, whether it be chording along with friends, performing at concert or just for personal relaxation. For the first year of lessons I ask parents to come to lessons so that there is continuity and regularity of home practise. I only take student who have time to practise daily. I like to start teaching when students are reading and able to manage some independence in their practise time although I do make exceptions if a child is playing already by ear at a younger age. My studio is small so that I can give lots of attention to each student. I spend a lot of time studying pedagogy and learning new music. I encourage student not only to play piano, synthesizer and electric piano, but compose, arrange and play by ear. In summary, the goal is enjoyment and learning at all levels.
