Marina Berberian

Marina Berberian

Marina Berberian hails from what, in 1991, was Soviet Armenia -- the year she came to the United States. She graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree with Honors from the Romanos Melikyan Music College in Yerevan, Armenia. An additional five years at the Yerevan State Conservatory after Komitas would further bestow upon her Master's degree in music pedagogy, solo performance, and chamber music accompaniment. Having come from the Soviet-Russian education system (one of the most rigorous in the world) she was well-equipped to tackle everything she has excelled in, since arriving to South Florida. To further her education, in 2008  Marina Berberian attended Florida International University where she obtained her Master's degree in Performance, under the tutelage of world-renowned pianist Kemal Gekic. Currently, she is a member of MMTF (Miami Music Teachers Foundation), affiliated with FMTA (Florida Music Teachers Association) and NMTA (National Music Teachers Association). In addition, she is a Steinway Teacher as well as a Royal Conservatory teacher member. She has prepared hundreds of students for competitions, recitals, and exam Certifications from Royal Conservatory of Music. Numerous times her students were selected as award recipients of the Royal Conservatory Certificate Program. Over the last 25 years, she has become one of the most sought after piano teachers in Miami. Aside from raising three children and running her Hi Key Piano Studio, Marina has held various teaching posts as a music teacher in local public and private schools, and frequently receives calls to perform as an accompanist and serve as an adjudicator. She has served several times as a judge for the Florida Federation of Music Clubs, Miami Dade Community College Piano Concerto Competition, MMTA Concerto Competition, Alhambra Orchestra Concerto Competition, and Youth Fair Competitions. She is also the organist/pianist at St. Mary Armenian Church in Cooper City. Despite her already frenetic schedule, she surprisingly finds time to make a sizable contribution to Allegro Music Center, the most important independent music store in South Florida. Her extensive education and knowledge of classical music made her the obvious choice to oversee the extensive inventory of sheet music when she and her husband Manuel originally bought the business.  As a performer, Mrs.Berberian has participated in numerous recitals in South Florida as a soloist, chamber musician, and piano accompanist. Together with Dr. Irena Kofman they gave a successful “Piano Duo Recital” in Curacao in 2015.  In September 2016, they performed in Yerevan, Armenia for My Armenia Music Festival. After the 2018 concert in Yerevan, Mrs. Berberian was recognized with the Honorary Award by the Ministry Of Armenian Diaspora for performing and promoting Armenian music worldwide.
