With over 30 years teaching experience, violist Mark Pfannschmidt has taught viola and violin to students ages 4 to adult. He has also taught students with learning difficulties and hearing impairment, including two adult students with cochlear implants. Several of his students have received scholarships to continue their musical studies in college. His students have successfully completed RCM exams through Level 7 on Violin and Level 8 on Viola.
Mr. Pfannschmidt also teaches music theory courses using the Ultimate Music Theory curriculum. He has completed the Ultimate Music Theory Certification course and is trained to teach through RCM Level 8. He has had students successfully complete RCM Exams in Music Theory through Level 8. His students have consistently scored at least First Class Honors with most of them scoring First Class Honors with Distinction.
In January 2023, Mr. Pfannschmidt returned to the study of the harp after decades of pursuing other musical interests. He has been studying again with Elisa Dickon, who was a student of Carlos Salzedo and Alice Chalifoux. Mrs. Dickon was his first harp teacher when he was a student at the Interlochen Arts Academy. With her encouragement and help, he has begun teaching harp. He is teaching both lever harp and pedal harp. He also gives harp recitals locally at senior living communities.
