Mary Jane received her BMUS in violin performance from her combined studies at Eastman School of Music and the University of British Columbia. She played with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra for five years, and has performed with Banff Opera Orchestra, BC ballet, Calgary Opera, and performed with the Bow Valley Chorus and Cantare Children's Choir for twenty years. Mary Jane has travelled with various chamber groups to Taiwan, Germany, Spain, Austria, Hungary and Poland as well as performed on Cruise Lines with Princess Cruises and Holland America. Mary Jane has taught violin for over twenty-five years and has had several students win first place and in local festivals such as the Calgary Performing Arts Festival (Kiwanis), Contemporary Showcase, students as finalists in the Canadian Music Competition, as well as students who have won RCM medals through RCM examinations. Currently, Mary Jane is the Director and Founder of the Calgary Music Academy where she fosters young students ages three to twenty in violin performance through high quality instruction and community outreach.
