Music has always been a part of my life and has been a catalyst that has sparked my imagination into the multiple facets of the arts. My engagement in music began with my first piano lessons at the age of six and continued through the Royal Conservatory of Music program, my involvement in our church choir as an organist and guitarist and later, as a choir director providing the music for Mass as well as for weddings.
Inspired by the theoretical components of music, I continued my music journey into music arrangement, composition, music history and piano accompaniment. Music became a complement to my visual art studies, in sketching, drawing, painting and design as all art forms share common ground.
As a piano teacher, I aim to make music fun and enjoyable while providing an educational framework to solidify the fundamentals. The values of patience and kindness are emphasized in my approach to teaching which works both ways for the student and the teacher. My approach is to focus on the student's individual personalities and strengths while providing a well-rounded balanced music experience involving technique, music literacy, artistry and musicianship.
Participation in music and the arts brings a freedom to engage the world in a more meaningful way. It is an honour and a privilege to be a music teacher and to provide the countless benefits of music to my students.
