Teacher ARCT
Mimi Ho began studying piano at the age of three in Hong Kong, where her musical talents were recognized early on. She served as her primary school’s choir accompanist and completed the ABRSM Level 5 before continuing her musical journey in Vancouver, Canada. She holds an ARCT in Piano Performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music and a Diploma of The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, and is currently an RCM Certified Teacher. Her teachers included Ms. Tokai Gu, Ms. Yulin Yang, Dr. Sasha Starcevich, and Dr. Corey Hamm. Despite holding a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from UBC, Mimi has taught piano for over 20 years. Her students received high standings in music festivals and examinations; some of her students pursue post-secondary studies and teaching careers in music. Her fluency in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English enables her to communicate effectively with parents and students alike. As the Past President for the Richmond Branch of the BC Registered Music Teachers’ Association (BCRMTA), and the 1st Vice President of the BCRMTA Provincial Association, Mimi continues to work with other fellow teachers to maintain a high level of excellence in music education in BC. Through involvement with the BCRMTA, Mimi serves music teachers and students in her local community, providing teachers a platform for teachers to connect, while giving students more opportunities to perform and showcase their achievements. She represented the BCRMTA to provide an introduction of the Association in the “Leisure Talk” show on Fairchild Television, a Cantonese Channel for all of the East and West Coast of Canada. She was also featured in the Richmond Review newspaper, “Our Community, Our People”, for her outstanding work with both the BCRMTA and music teaching in the community.
