Graduated from UBC with a bachelor's degree in music composition, Morten Yu is an avid composer/pianist currently residing in Vancouver. In his early years, he won many local piano competitions and started composing at the age of 14, eventually getting accepted to UBC music in 2015 as the number one seed. In 2022, he completed EAMA( European American Musical Alliances) camp in Paris under the tutelage of Dr.Philip Lasser and Dr.Kyle Blaha from Juilliard, with an emphasis and honours in Counterpoint.
He believes music can touch the most gentle and sensitive part of people's hearts, igniting passion and bridging people together, and most importantly express emotions in which words cannot.
He loves teaching music, many of his student has won multiple prizes in piano performance locally, as well as scoring outstanding marks on their theory exams. He believes it is vital for students to set a strong foundation as they start learning piano. As they progress on their journey, the teacher will draw out the student's full music potential and musicality.
