Nila Golmaghani Azar

Nila Azar is an accomplished cellist and pianist based in Vancouver, BC. She earned her Bachelor's degree from the UBC School of Music, where she was awarded several scholarships to realize her aspirations. Additionally, she received scholarships from the UBC Music Summer Camp and North Shore Music Academy for two consecutive years. Nila's musical journey began at the Tehran Music Conservatory, and she has been playing the cello for over ten years. She has performed with various orchestras and music ensembles in Iran and has played in numerous string chambers and ensembles in Vancouver. Throughout her career, Nila has had the privilege of working with esteemed musicians from diverse musical backgrounds, including Eric Wilson, Liane Langton, Marina Thibeault, Diane Sanford, Jonathan Der, Miranda Wong, Corey Hamm, Hyejung Jun, and Neil Craighead. In addition to teaching, Nila performs with the UBC Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Jonathan Girard and volunteers at various fundraising events. As an active music instructor, she has taught cello, piano, music theory, and children's group classes for more than ten years. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes structured lessons that highlight accuracy, technique, theory, and musicianship while valuing individual learning methods and creating an enjoyable learning environment.
