Raluca Boac

Raluca enjoys a career designed around two pillars: teaching and piano performance. She graduated from the University of St. Thomas, Minnesota earning a Master of Art degree in Music Education with an emphasis in
Piano Pedagogy. Raluca started to play piano at the age of 6, while attending the Tudor Ciortea High School of Music (for grades 1 – 12) in Brasov, Romania. She received a Bachelor and a Master Degree in Music Education from the University of Transilvania, completing her studies as a valedictorian.

Raluca teaches individual piano to children and adults since 2001. She moved to the U.S. in 2009, where
she founded a successful piano studio. Her students perform in recitals, festivals, competitions and piano
achievement programs such as the Comprehensive Piano Exam and the Theory Exam organized by Minnesota Music Teachers Association, the Music Development Program from the Royal Conservatory of Music, Canada, the North Star Piano Festival, MusikLink Playathon and the Shine On Catholic Schools Talent Show.
In parallel with her piano studio, she worked with Musika Lessons, Signature School of Music and Holy
Spirit Catholic School. Raluca is a member of the Minnesota Music Teachers Association, South Suburban Music Teacher Association, Apple Valley Music Teachers Association and of the Music Teachers National Association. She was invited to adjudicate local piano competitions and festivals.
Prior to this, Raluca taught piano at the Tudor Ciortea Music High School in Brasov, coordinating musical
recitals and competitions for her students, as well as master classes. Raluca was an artistic consultant for the
Brasov Philharmonic Orchestra and a piano accompanist for Brasov Opera.

Raluca has performed a number of solo concerts in the Twin Cities, at the 2009 Romanian Festival, at Augsburg College in 2010, and at the Romanian-American Dream Awards Gala organized by HORA (Heritage
Organization of Romanian Americans in Minnesota) in June 2012, at the Musical Instrument Museum, Phoenix, Arizona, as a representative of the University of St. Thomas, in April 2013. In addition to her solo and chamber music degree recitals, she performed Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with orchestra as a winner of the St. Thomas Festival Orchestra Honors Competition. She performed solo and chamber music recitals throughout Romania, Germany, Greece, Hungary, and the U.S.

As a Romanian-born pianist, Raluca is honored to highlight the Romanian piano repertoire for Minnesota
audiences. She was excited to perform Romanian music at several events whose purpose was to preserve and
share the valuable heritage of the Romanian American community in Minnesota, such as the 2018 Romania’s
