Children and music have always been passions of mine since childhood. Having the opportunity to combine them is a privilege that bring much joy and contentment. In the Fall of 2007, I began my teaching journey for a music school in Charlotte, NC. Since then, I have taught privately in my home. My experience includes ages 4 years to 80 years. My students have participated in Federation Festival and received high honors as well as RCM exams. It is a joy and privilege to teach students music through piano and learn how to expand those lessons to other instruments of their choice. In 2016 I became director of a homeschool children's choir in the south Charlotte, NC area. We learn folk songs, teach rhythm and solfege, and general music theory. The children prepare a full concert in both Fall and Spring featuring folk music from around the world. As director, I have found many little short pieces that are quite fun to teach. I am also director of a children's choir in my home church teaching young students to sing well and help prepare the congregation for worship on Sundays. In this choir, we also work on basic theory principles; learning steady beat, matching pitch, and following the director without distraction. This church choir, I've been involved in since graduating from college in 2007. In the past seven years, I've been blessed to have three young children of my own. My oldest two have begun their piano journey and the youngest is eager to start in the coming years.
