Ruth Guechtal

Dr. Ruth Guechtal (Dmus) is a composer and performer avant-garde music, heavy metal and harsh noise as well as a music theory and guitar instructor. Her teaching experience spans 14 years of private and studio guitar instruction as well as in-class teaching assistantships in music theory, composition and history. As a composer her works have been commissioned and performed in
 the Toronto area with artists such as Array Music, Stephanie Chua, TorQ, the Toy Piano Composers Collective and the Toronto Improvisers Orchestra. Having completed a Master’s degree in composition at the University of Victoria where she studied under Dr. Dániel Péter Biró she recently completed her doctorate at the University of Alberta under the supervision of Dr. Scott Smallwood and Dr. Howard Bashaw.
