Sam Harrison has been teaching cello to students of all ages and levels for the past 10 years. She holds a Master of Music from the University of Ottawa, where she studied with cellist Paul Marleyn. Sam has performed in the sections of the Ottawa and Kingston symphonies, and alongside members of the Penderecki String Quartet while completing her Diploma in Chamber Music at Wilfred Laurier University. Sam gained further training through festivals such as the Vancouver Symphony Summer Institute in Whistler, Orford Summer Music and QuartetFest, and has had the opportunity to perform in masterclasses with artists such as Colin Carr, Matt Haimovitz and Brian Manker.
Sam is a firm believer that everyone should have access to music education and has taught with organizations such as OrKidstra in Ottawa and Dixon Hall in Toronto. Using a combination of Suzuki, Piatti and RCM cello methods, Sam encourages students to express themselves by building a strong technical foundation that enables them to play with ease and enjoyment.
