I'm a teacher that loves to teach and has a lot of patience with every student. I feel very strong in passing on good music reading skills to all of my students. My hope is that every one of my students will love music. How do I succeed at this? I see what works. I'm open to what the student wants to learn, and then I continue to find ways to make that exciting.
The Royal Conservatory of Music program has also been incorporated into my teaching as well. Two of my students have been invited to perform at the Northeast Region Celebration of Excellence in 2019, and in 2022. This event celebrates the outstanding accomplishments of the RCM Certificate Program's top students in the region!
I am comfortable teaching up to late intermediate and early advanced piano students. I have taught many students and once in awhile, I will encourage them to move on. One example was in 2021. I had a student for ten years and he was ready to begin his senior year. Most teachers would just hold on to him for his last year. He was an excellent pianist and I didn't want to hold him back in any way. I suggested that he go to my piano teacher that I was studying with. Her name is Lydia Reed-Guertin out of Lexington, MA. Over his last year of study, he was under Lydia. He was accepted to Ithaca College in New York for Music Performance in piano and in Music Education. Fall/2022
As a teacher, I feel it's very important to continue my education and be involved as a musician. I hold a Masters Degree in Music Education from UMass, Lowell. 2003.
I hold RCM comprehensive certificates in Levels 4 - 10 for the piano. I began with Level 4. I'm excited to say that I hold a First Class Honors in every level from 4-9. Just this past December in 2024, I received Honors in Level 10! I'm now eligible to go to the ACRT level if I wish to do so.
I was also just certified in 2025 as an RCM teacher for Elementary Piano and Intermediate Piano.
I'm still studying under Lydia Reed-Guertin. I also love to play the piano at my church and I'm a current member of NEPTA.
