Ted Parkinson

Having studied two years of piano as an older child, I returned to study as an adult after I left a two year stint as an engineer in the nuclear industry. This return to piano coincided with my qualification as a teacher of Physics and Mathematics. I earned my ARCT when I was 40 years old. My full time teaching began in 2008, when I retired from teaching in both the public and private school systems. I finished my career at Branksome Hall in 2009 and quite quickly was able to build a student group at my Logan Store Studio in Riverdale. Our home was suited to recitals, so I held my student recitals there, and had several recitals by professionals, including Mike Serio of Buffalo and Bruce Vogt, head of piano at University of Victoria. My wife Pat Dales and I and our cat Coco now live in The Kensington Co-op in Rosedale. I have 3 students at the present time, but I plan to add a few more students in the near future. Other involvement in music includes cello in which I have earned a Level 9 qualification, and I am learning to play a bit of 5 string banjo, as well as ukulele and an instrument on which I have not yet put strings called a "Banjo Mandolin". When not involved in music, Pat and I (and Coco) like spending time at our cabin north of Kingston. I have plans to build a couple of boats, which I hope to start very soon.
