Vanessa Verstege

I am a professionally educated piano teacher with a formal education from York University. In addition to receiving a Bachelor of Arts, I have also been trained in piano pedagogy with the Royal Conservatory of Music at both the Elementary and Intermediate levels. Throughout my teaching career, I have gained experience teaching students of many ages, from children as young as five to adult learners who have always wanted to learn how to play the piano. I also have had great experiences teaching students with autism and other special needs, working with them to grow and develop their musical skills. My lessons are designed to be both fun and entertaining while also instilling a strong understanding of the fundamentals of musical performance and theory. I use positive re-enforcement, goal setting, and performance opportunities to help motivate my students to fulfil their musical potential while also developing their own self-confidence. I teach a variety of musical styles, from classical to contemporary pop songs, jazz, hymns, and more! My students have performed in concerts and competitions and consistently receive high marks in examinations. I strive to bring a love for the piano into my student’s lives and am privileged to be able to share my love for music with each and every student.
