Welcome to my page! I'm so glad you are thinking about flute or piano lessons! I've been teaching piano and flute for about 50 years, beginner through advanced, including at the University of Kansas. I have a BM in music composition (minors in flute and piano) and a MM in flute performance. In addition to teaching, I have been an accompanist/assistant conductor for the award winning Columbia Choirs of Metropolitan Seattle. My book, "Artistic Accompanying" is available at Amazon. I have performed in chamber music ensembles, orchestras, bands, and in competitions. Piano lessons focus on learning to play in the classical style, sight-reading, theory, and ear training. Repertoire is primarily classical. Flute instruction focuses on creating a beautiful tone, supple technique, sight-reading, theory, and ear training. Repertoire is primarily classical. For both piano and flute instruction, I use many materials from the Royal Conservatory (Canada), and encourage students to be involved with the graded assessments that they offer. Most instruction is virtual, but I am doing a few lessons in person, depending on the circumstance.
