Course Description
Students can participate in chamber ensembles and orchestra in addition to their private lessons and theory studies. Ensemble placements are by audition as recommended by the student's teacher.

Preparatory Orchestra
Beginner Preparatory Orchestra introduces children to the basics of orchestra playing in a fun and friendly environment. Open to violin, viola, cello, and bass from RCME grades 1-2 or middle Suzuki book 1 - 3. Students should have at least one year's playing experience on their instrument to participate - or placement by audition.
Elementary Orchestra
Elementary Orchestra builds on the skills learned in Preparatory Orchestra to improve ensemble listening skills and develop the ability to perform four-part harmonies, rhythm conversation between sections and ensemble listening skills. Open to violin, viola, cello and bass from RCME grades 3-5 or Suzuki book 3-5. Students should have at least 1 year orchestra playing experience with the ability to read notes comfortably to participate - or placement by audition.
Intermediate Orchestra
Intermediate Orchestra focuses on melodic and harmonic development in major and minor keys, syncopation, complex rhythm conversation between sections and advancement of ensemble listening skills. Open to violin, viola, cello and bass from Royal Conservatory Level 6+ or Suzuki book 6 - 10. Students should have at least 2 years orchestral playing experience with one of those years in the Elementary (Concert) Orchestra to participate - or placement by audition.
Advanced Orchestra
