Cody McCowell

Cody McCowell

Cody began playing guitar at 16 and continued developing his skills while studying English Literature at Lakehead University. In his second year of university, he successfully auditioned for the Classical Music program, transitioning from rock and metal to classical guitar. After two years of studying Classical Guitar Performance, he shifted his focus to music composition for his final two years.

As a member of SOCAN (Society of Composers, Authors, and Music Publishers of Canada), Cody has received awards for songwriting and solo guitar performance. His work has been featured on CBC Radio-1, and he has extensive experience performing and touring across Canada. He has sung with the Thunder Bay Symphony Chorus, conducted and directed music, and taught lessons for various instruments.

Cody brings a unique approach to teaching theory, emphasizing a deeper understanding of music beyond just learning songs. Passionate about both teaching and personal growth, he looks forward to inspiring students and becoming an integral part of the Dundas Conservatory of Music community.
