The Dior Quartet, the Quartet-in-Residence at The Royal Conservatory’s Glenn Gould School (GGS) has been named one of five winners of the Concert Artists Guild (CAG) Elmaleh Competition, held at the National Sawdust Performance Art Theatre in Brooklyn, NY on May 23, 2023. Previous winners of this competition include Grammy award-winning musicians Jennifer Koh, Joseph Lin (Juilliard Quartet), Eugene Drucker (Emerson Quartet), and the Pacifica Quartet Ensemble to name a few.

The CAG Elmaleh Competition seeks exceptional instrumentalists, ensembles and singers who also demonstrate the virtues of thoughtful citizenry and a commitment to connect music with the world. Since 1951, the competition has helped over 500 young musicians launch careers.

The Dior Quartet was formed in 2018 at the Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University, under the tutelage of the Pacifica Quartet, and includes Noa Sarid and Tobias Elser (violins), Caleb Georges (2023-23 Rebanks Fellow, viola), and Joanne Yesol Choi (Alumna of The Taylor Academy and 2021-22 Rebanks Fellow, cello).

With the Dior Quartet's well-earned success at CAG, this extraordinary quartet will now have opportunities to share their artistry and vision with diverse audiences across the large CAG network. They have worked tirelessly to get to this place, and all of us at The Glenn Gould School are excited to follow their journey.
Barry Shiffman, Associate Dean and Director of Chamber Music at The Glenn Gould School.

Elmaleh winners will receive international management jointly with CAG and the Young Classical Artists Trust in London; performances at Merkin Hall (NYC) and Wigmore Hall (London). Additional opportunities may include concert bookings, professional career development and coaching, EP release and Artist Website Design.

Other competition winners included the Abeo Quartet and Njioma Chinyere Grievous and past winners include the former Glenn Gould School Quartet-in-Residence, Afiara Quartet.
