Baritone Jason Nedecky is instructor of French diction and repertoire courses for the Bachelor of Music and Advanced Diploma programs. At the University of Toronto Faculty of Music, he is a sessional lecturer and the diction coach for the opera division.  

Nedecky holds a Bachelor of Music degree (University of Manitoba), a Master of Music degree and an Opera diploma (University of Toronto), and A.R.C.T. diplomas in voice and piano (Royal Conservatory of Music).  

Nedecky continued studies in Baden bei Wien, Austria, at the Britten-Pears Young Artist Programme in Aldeburgh, England, at L’Académie Musicale de Villecroze in France, at the Banff Centre, and the Young Artist Program of the National Arts Centre, Ottawa. He has appeared as soloist with many Canadian concert series and opera companies, and has recorded with the Aradia Ensemble on the NAXOS label. Since 2005, Nedecky has been a member of the Canadian Opera Company chorus, and has also performed and covered many comprimario roles for the company.  

Jason Nedecky is sought after for his expertise in lyric diction. He has acted as a language coach at the Canadian Opera Company, the Luminato Festival, Société-Radio-Canada, the Toronto Children’s Chorus, Opera NUOVA (Edmonton), the Mountain View Summer Festival (Calgary), and is the English diction specialist for The Diction Police website. He is is author of French Lyric Diction: A Singer’s Guide, published by Oxford University Press.
