Melissa Scott
Melissa Scott is an active and influential Canadian musician having served as principal oboe of the Kingston Symphony Orchestra since 2015, acting second oboe with the Toronto Symphony 2017/2018 and 2011/2012 seasons as well as having held the position of second oboe & English horn with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra from 2010-2012.
She continues to perform on a regular and ongoing basis with a variety of distinguished orchestras including the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the National Arts Centre Orchestra, the National Ballet of Canada Orchestra, and the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Orchestra and has made guest appearances as principal oboe with the Calgary Philharmonic and Symphony Nova Scotia.
When not on stage of a symphonic venue, Melissa can be found performing in a variety of music settings ranging from television commercials and back-up musician for mainstream pop artists to performing in both the 2012 and 2018 National tours of Wicked, the Broadway musical.
In addition to performing on stage and in studio, Melissa is an active member of the oboe community having recently founded the Sandpiper Oboe Boutique, Canada’s premier oboe supplies company catering to professionals and amateurs alike with high-quality oboe accessories and equipment as well as the odd restoration and emergency repair.
In the Fall of 2021, Melissa became the adjunct oboe instructor at the Dan School of Drama and Music at Queen’s University as well as the oboe instructor at the Oscar Peterson School of Music at the Royal Conservatory of Music.
Originally from Ottawa, Melissa holds a Master of Music degree from the prestigious Cleveland Institute of Music in addition to an Artist Diploma from the renowned Glenn Gould School and a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Ottawa.
