Raul Velasco attended the Indiana University School of Music, where he obtained his Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees in piano performance and his Doctorate in piano and pedagogy. His primary teachers have included South American pianist Teresa Quesada, and American pianists Zadel Skolovsky and Leonard Hokanson.

Dr. Velasco has performed in masterclasses and workshops given by renowned artists such as Gyorgy Sandor, Emanual Ax, Isaac Stern, and Jean-Pierre Rampal, among others.

His orchestral engagements and solo recitals in South and Central America and in the United States include television appearances and radio broadcasts.

As a clinician, Dr. Velasco has given workshops and masterclasses and he has adjudicated festivals and competitions in Canada and the United States.

He is currently the senior piano instructor at Steveston’s Arts Connection in Richmond B.C., and he also maintains a private studio in North Vancouver.
