Alyssa Wu

Alyssa is an MSc Candidate in Biochemistry at Western University. She obtained her BSc in Honours Life Sciences and a Minor in Music at McMaster University. Alyssa is a Research Lead for the Felicity App, a student productivity application currently being developed. In this role, she has worked on systematic reviews and meta-analyses looking at evidence-based approaches to improve learning strategies among university students. In June 2022, she was invited to speak at a symposium at the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) conference in Calgary, Alberta. She has also been working as an Article Writer and Book Writer with the Antarctic Institute of Canada, led by Dr. Austin Mardon (Edmonton, Alberta). Her projects have been funded by a #RisingYouth Grant from TakingITGlobal. She has written about her experiences with online teaching and learning, pertaining to creating interactive online experiences while teaching piano and theory lessons during the pandemic. Alyssa is an RCM registered piano & theory/rudiments teacher. She completed her Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) Grade 10 Piano with First Class Honours in 2015. She is a continuous recipient of many awards and scholarships from several local festivals and competitions throughout the Niagara region. She has also competed in the OMFA Provincial Finals for many years, where she represented the Niagara region and their local festivals.
