Ann Mendenhall

Ann Mendenhall

My name is Ann Baker Mendenhall. I grew up in Costa Rica, received my Bachelors degree in Piano Performance from Oberlin Conservatory, in Ohio, and pursued my Masters degree at the University of Victoria, BC, studying with the late Dr. Robin Wood. I have been passionately involved in both teaching piano and performing for most of my life. I have a beautiful studio with two grand pianos, a Steinway and a Yamaha, in a bucolic setting. Although most of my teaching is done in person, I can also teach online by Zoom. Although I no longer accept very young beginners, I teach intermediate and advanced children, and adults at all levels, beginners through ARCT. My organizational system ensures regular practice, as steady progress is what makes music study enjoyable. In addition to weekly private lessons, my students meet every 3 weeks in groups, giving them a positive peer group of musical friends and further enhancing the fun of learning. I organize frequent recitals and masterclasses for them. My goals for my students include joy of accomplishment and love of music.
