Chihiro Honma holds two Master of Music degrees in Piano Performance from the University of British Columbia and the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. She has over ten years of teaching experience in piano and music theory, working with students of all ages and levels.
Originally from Japan, Chihiro was raised in a musical family and developed perfect pitch at a young age. Her advanced studies included work with distinguished teachers such as Dr. Sara Buechner, Prof. Rena Sharon, Prof. Eric Larsen, and Dr. Allison Gagnon. She also explored other keyboard instruments, studying organ with Dr. Jack Mitchener and harpsichord with Ms. Doreen Oke.
Chihiro has received awards at the Nova Scotia RMTA Annual Scholarship Competition and the Georgia State MTNA Competition. She was granted a Graduate Assistantship in Collaborative Piano at UNCSA and earned UBC’s Faculty of Arts Graduate Scholarship and Research Award for her work in Berlin.
She is currently pursuing Eurhythmics certification through Dalcroze Canada, with a focus on aural skills, improvisation, and movement. She also holds an ECEA certificate in Early Childhood Education and is a member of the BC Registered Music Teachers Association and Dalcroze Canada.
