Cydney London-Speers

Cydney London Speers is one of Canada’s most respected and successful teachers of voice and piano. Educated at the Music Departments of the University of Alberta and Grant MacEwan University in her hometown of Edmonton, has taught extensively in Edmonton, Calgary, Phoenix and Hamilton. Her students have been accepted into music programs across North America – including The Glenn Gould School, Toronto, both the University of Toronto Department of Music and Opera School, Indiana University Voice Department, University of Western Ontario, Wilfrid Laurier University, the Canadian Opera Company’s Young Artist Ensemble, the Atelier Lyrique de L’Opera de Montreal, the Banff Centre, Aspen Music Festival, Colorado, the Berklee College of Music, Boston. Her students have gone on to perform with Opera and Music/Theatre companies throughout Canada, the US and overseas. As a solo pianist, accompanist and repetiteur, Cydney has worked with LiveArts National Tour of “The Phantom of the Opera,” Calgary Opera, Opera East, The Canada Council for the Arts, The National Ballet of Canada, Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Royal Ballet, Covent Garden, London, Martha Graham Dance Company, the Kirov Ballet, Alvin Ailey Dance Theatre, Decidedly Jazz Danceworks, Alberta Ballet and the Calgary City Ballet. She was the rehearsal accompanist for the Opening Ceremonies of the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, and the Opening of that city’s Jack Singer Concert Hall in September, 1985. Ms. Speers maintains a studio in her home in Ancaster, Ontario.
