Hellena Yang is a Canadian-Chinese classical pianist and educator, holding a Bachelor of Music (Honours) in Piano Performance from the Royal College of Music, London — consistently ranked among the world’s leading conservatories. At RCM London, she studied under distinguished pianists Gordon Fergus-Thompson and Mengyang Pan, where she refined her artistry through rigorous conservatory training and extensive performance experience.

She later completed a Master’s degree in Arts Administration and Cultural Policy at Goldsmiths, University of London, further deepening her understanding of music education, cultural leadership, and the role of the arts within global communities.

An active performer and collaborative pianist, Hellena has presented solo and chamber repertoire across Canada and the United Kingdom. In 2015, she was the youngest piano accompanist selected for the Pacific Wind Ensemble North American Tour, reflecting her advanced collaborative sensitivity and professional maturity at an early stage in her career.

Hellena is a Certified Teacher with The Royal Conservatory of Music (Canada) and a member of the British Columbia Registered Music Teachers’ Association (BCRMTA). Through these professional affiliations, she upholds high pedagogical standards and remains engaged in ongoing professional development within Canada’s music education community.

Her teaching philosophy combines structure with inspiration. She provides comprehensive training in piano performance, rudiments, harmony, and music history, preparing students from beginner through ARCT level. Her students regularly participate in RCM examinations, recitals, and festivals, developing not only technical fluency but also artistic confidence and musical depth.
