Jacqueline Mendoza

Jacqueline Mendoza is a Calgary-born soprano and dedicated voice educator with over 25
years of teaching experience. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Performance from the
University of Calgary and a Master of Music in Performance with Distinction from McGill
University. Jacqueline’s extensive vocal training includes mentorship under esteemed artists
Sergio Tulian, Goffredo Ricci, Francis Ginzer, Phillip May, Elaine Case, Alex Grey, Donald
Bell, and Lucille and Bob Evans, as well as coaching with Nico and Carol Castel. Her
performance career spans opera, oratorio, art song, jazz, and musical theatre, with a special
passion for the dramatic repertoire of Wagner, R. Strauss, Puccini, and Verdi, as well as
Spanish and Contemporary Canadian works performed across Mexico and South America.
Rooted in the bel canto tradition, Jacqueline’s teaching emphasizes healthy, expressive, and
sustainable singing. She focuses on breath-supported tone, natural resonance, and authentic
musical communication, helping students build both technical mastery and artistic confidence.
Known for her warmth and individualized approach, she works with singers of all ages—from
enthusiastic beginners to emerging professionals—creating a nurturing environment where
curiosity, discipline, and joy in music-making thrive. Jacqueline’s students have achieved
outstanding success in local and provincial music festivals, Royal Conservatory of Music
examinations, and university and theatre auditions. Many have gone on to study voice and
musical theatre at leading institutions across Canada and abroad, perform professionally, or
become inspiring teachers themselves. She takes great pride in guiding each student to reach
their full potential while developing a lifelong love of music. In addition to her musical career,
Jacqueline brings a deep sense of empathy and community engagement from her work in
Calgary’s non-profit sector, supporting individuals in recovery and transitional care. She
believes that music is both an art and a form of healing—an outlook that infuses her teaching
with compassion, connection, and purpose
