Chinese-Canadian pianist Jasmine Lucia Wong is a devoted musician passionate about performance and education. Her accomplishments in performance and pedagogy have earned her multiple full-tuition academic and music scholarships and brought her to perform across Italy, Spain, the United States, and Canada. She has received numerous first-prize awards in citywide and provincial competitions and has been selected as the solo pianist representative of Ontario, Canada, for several years. Jasmine has also been presented with many institutional awards including the Sicily International Music Festival Scholarship, the Menahem Pressler Scholarship, the Adamant Music Scholarship, and the Alice Kern Award. In 2023, Jasmine was recruited as the music department pianist of the globally acclaimed film, American: An Odyssey to 1947. The film has received many awards in North America, South America, Europe, and Australia. Jasmine is the co-founder of the annual Lunar New Year (LNY) Piano Concert Series, where shd tours with her piano trio, The Sis-ilia Trio, celebrating East Asian music across various cities in North America. She has presented and performed at multiple state, national, and international conferences, including the Music Teachers National Association Conference (MTNA) and the Asian Classical Music Initiative International Conference (ACMI). She has given solo piano masterclasses at different institutions within Canada and the US, such as the University of Western Ontario, the University of Michigan, ARC Education, and the Piano Pedagogy Laboratory Program (PPLP). A certified Advanced Specialist by the Royal Conservatory of Music, Jasmine also serves as an Adjudicator for the National and the Michigan Federation of Music Clubs Festivals and Judge for the Livonia and the Ann Arbor Area SATs. Jasmine is the newest Chair of Communications of MMTA, and she was the youngest member to join the Board of the AAAPTG Foundation, She has been named a Michigan Artist Citizen, and recruited as Head Teaching Artist for the Willis C. Patterson Our Own Thing Piano Program in Ann Arbor. Jasmine holds a dual Master’s Degree in Piano Pedagogy & Performance from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor’s Degree in Honours Piano Performance from the University of Western Ontario, where she studied with Gwen Beamish. Currently pursuing her Doctoral Degree in Piano Pedagogy & Performance on full scholarship at the University of Michigan, Jasmine studies under Christopher Harding and Dr. John Ellis. Her research examines the art and impact of piano masterclasses since 1869, addressing gaps in existing scholarship, and expanding pedagogical literature for teachers through an in-depth analysis of teaching dynamics. Jasmine was the only student accepted into both her dual Master’s and Doctorate programs. Excitement builds as she prepares for her upcoming Concerto Concert with Jayce Ogren and the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra at Hill Auditorium this February 2025, and her solo recital in Brisbane, Australia June 2025.
