Kara Huber

Canadian-American pianist Kara Huber began private lessons at the age of five and at sixteen was admitted to the Interlochen Arts Academy. She most recently completed an Artist Diploma degree at The Glenn Gould School of The Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) in Toronto, CA under the tutelage of acclaimed pianist John Perry. She is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) in piano and conducting working with Awadagin Pratt and Aik Khai Pung and is piano faculty at the University of Louisville. Ms. Huber is the recipient of numerous prizes and performance awards, including the Audience Favorite Award in the Cincinnati World Piano Competition, Bradshaw and Buono International Piano Competition, The Stetcher and Horowitz Foundation’s New York Piano Competition, and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition. Quickly gaining an international reputation for her extraordinary prowess and flair for contemporary music, Ms. Huber works closely with living composers and recorded with the ARC Ensemble for Chandos Records, which was nominated for a 2017 Grammy Award for Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance. An active recitalist, Ms. Huber has performed across North America, Europe, and Australia and has been commended for her inventive and creative programming that all audiences can enjoy! Acclaimed for her “mature vision” by The Washington Post, recent solo recital performances include her Carnegie Hall debut in Weill Recital Hall, the Steinway Series at the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Yamaha Canada Young Artist Series, and the Kennedy Center. An innate teacher, Ms. Huber opened a private piano studio at the age of fourteen. While at the Royal Conservatory, Ms. Huber taught piano, chamber music, theory and keyboard harmony at RCM and the Bravo Academy for the Performing Arts in Toronto. An active and committed teacher, Ms. Huber serves as a teaching assistant under the direction of Dr. Michelle Conda at CCM. An active supporter of the RCM Certificate Program, Ms. Huber is an RCM Certified Teacher and member of both the Ontario Region Music Teachers and the Association Music Teachers National Association. Ms. Huber opens her studio welcoming students at all levels including early age beginners and online students.
