I am a life long lover of music. Piano is my main instrument, but I also enjoy violin.
Although I taught lessons throughout high school, it has only recently been that I discovered my love for teaching. I took a break while having kids. But our rural area is short on teachers, and after being asked by several parents to teach, I jumped back in. I love it. But I find myself wishing I knew more. My students are progressing so well. I had my first recital and practice contest which motivated everyone to practice. I just really want to know how to be a better teacher. I did minor in music in college for two years, but I had a baby during my sophomore year and couldn’t juggle everything. So I dropped my minor and got my bachelors in Office Admin. When I was 23, I fought off cancer while pregnant. It was just a lot, and piano took a back burner.
I thought about taking grad classes for piano pedagogy but this seemed like a good first step. I can’t wait to learn. I hope you will accept this young mom + cancer survivor and work with me to become a better teacher!
