Stephen loves music. He has been a devoted teacher for over 18 years. Stephen was a founding member of the Nananimo Chamber Orchestra and served as principal violist for nine of his fifteen years with the ensemble. He otherwise enjoyed playing in the violin sections, primarily as assistant concert master. Stephen has played with a variety of other ensembles over the years: Nanaimo Fiddle Kids, Nanaimo Conservatory String Orchestra, Victoria Youth Symphony, Malaspina Stage Band (Trombone), and Don Wright Wind Symphony (Trombone). Stephen studied piano and viola classical performance at VIU and earned an Associates in Music Degree. He went on to study music education and social science at the University of Victoria. Stephen is a private music teacher and he has directed and accompanied various choirs. He has served as Musical Director, Choir Master and Organist for the larger Anglican, Lutheran and United Church populations in Nanaimo and Victoria BC. Stephen has also enjoyed a profession as a an educator and care giver for children and persons with varying levels of mental barriers, thus helping him specializing in teaching extraordinary youth and very young pupils. He enjoys spending time with his two girls, two cats, and very patient hamster.
