Valerie Li

Faculty, Oscar Peterson School of Music
Valerie received her Bachelor of Music from the Peabody Institute, her Master of Music from the New England Conservatory, and her Artist Diploma from the Juilliard School. Valerie is a founding member of the JUNO-nominated Afiara Quartet, winner of the Concert Artists Guild International Competition and the Young Canadian Musicians Award, and 2nd prizes at the Munich ARD International Music Competition and the Banff International String Quartet Competition. She has performed worldwide at such venues as Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall, and the Kennedy Center. Valerie teaches at the Glenn Gould School, the Taylor Performance Academy, and the Royal Conservatory School. She also maintains a private home studio. She has held residencies at San Francisco State University and The Juilliard School. She has served as Adjunct Professor at the University of Toronto with the Cecilia Quartet. Valerie has been invited to teach and give masterclasses throughout the Americas and Europe. She has been a jury member of the Eckhardt-Gramatté National Competition and the Hamilton Music Festival, and frequently adjudicates Glenn Gould School recitals and juries.
