Seventeen Students and Alumni on CBC List of Top Young Classical Musicians

CBC has published the 2018 edition of its top 30 classical musicians under 30 years old and once again many students and alumni of The Royal Conservatory dominate the list.

The 17 young artists with a Conservatory connection include composers, singers, and a diverse group of instrumentalists. They all share the experience of studying music through The Royal Conservatory Certificate Program or the professional programs of The Glenn Gould School, The Phil and Eli Taylor Performance Academy for Young Artists, and The Rebanks Family Fellowship and International Performance Residency Program.

"I was really happy to be included this year," revealed trombonist Brayden Friesen during an interview with Calgary's CBC Homestretch. The Alberta native – a student of our Glenn Gould School – had been keen to make the cut for years.

For the CBC, all of the 2018 inductees deserve ample praise: “They're winning big competitions and prizes, making exciting debuts…and we think they're amazing.”

So do we.
