Harp

Julie has been teaching the harp to students at all levels for over thirty years, specializing in the classical repertoire, as well as Celtic‚ Folk and other styles of music.

Julie studied with Judy Loman‚ former principal harpist of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra‚ with Alice Chalifoux at the Salzedo Harp School in Maine‚ and with Marilyn Costello at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia.

Julie has performed as a soloist with various chamber ensembles and choirs including the Orford String Quartet, the Les Amis Ensemble, and the Exulte Chamber Singers among others. She has also worked with symphony orchestras across Canada including the Toronto Symphony, Canadian Opera Company, National Ballet of Canada, Winnipeg Symphony, Symphony Nova Scotia, Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony and Orchestra London Canada.

Julie has adjudicated at harp competitions and events including the Kiwanis Music Festival‚ the Ontario Music Festival‚ and the Scholarship Competition for the Toronto Harp Society. She has also adjudicated the orchestral harp class at the Glenn Gould School at the Royal Conservatory of Music.

In addition to teaching the harp, Julie teaches piano to students of all ages at her St. Clair West area studio in Toronto.

Julie has also taught Music and Movement classes at the Royal Conservatory of Music, Montessori Jewish Day School, Pinelake Montessori School, and Cosmo Music School.

Julie is a RCM Certified Teacher, Advanced Specialist – Harp. She also has her Advanced Certificate in Early Childhood Music Education (The Oscar Peterson School of Music & Ryerson), and her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology (University of Toronto).
