The Bang on a Can All-Stars have collaborated and toured with fellow New Yorkers Philip Glass and Steve Reich for more than 30 years. This concert features Glassworks, exclusively arranged by Michael Riesman for Bang on a Can All-Stars, alongside Reich’s acclaimed rock-infused Electric Counterpoint, for electric guitar, in honor of these two outstanding composers during their milestone 90th birthday year.
In 1982 Philip Glass became the first composer since Aaron Copland to join the CBS Masterworks label. His first album for Masterworks, Glassworks, tripled all sales projections, and was lauded by audiences and critics alike. But Glass never performed the complete album live with his touring ensemble. Celebrating the legendary composer’s 90th Birthday year (2027), Bang on a Can All-Stars perform a brand-new arrangement of the iconic Philip Glass album in its entirety for the very first time.
