Irish pianist John O’Conor celebrates his 80th birthday with Beethoven, joined by Glenn Gould School students and a special duet piano performance with James Anagnoson, Dean Emeritus of the GGS and Piano Department Chair.
"A pianist of unbounding sensitivity" (Gramophone), O'Conor is renowned globally for his masterly playing over the last 50 years. A Steinway Artist, he is Chair of the Piano Division at Shenandoah University in Virginia, Professor of Piano at The Glenn Gould School, Distinguished Visiting Artist at the TU Dublin Conservatoire of Music, and Visiting Professor at Showa University in Japan.
Anagnoson is one of Canada's best-known pianists and pedagogues. He has been on the piano faculty of the GGS since its formation in 1987 and has also taught at the University of Toronto and the University of Western Ontario.
