Sabrina Mo

Born in Hong Kong, Sabrina started to play the flute at the age of 14. She is an active soloist and chamber musician in Vancouver. She plays as a flutist and piccolist in VAMSO, SFUCO and VYPO, and participates in various music festivals. She had experiences playing in the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, National Grand Theatre of China in Beijing, The Orpheum and Chan Centre for the Performing Art along with the HKYSO, VAMSO and VYPO. With more than 8 years of experience on teaching flute, recorder and music theory, she has developed her own methods of teaching to a wide range of students in private and group lessons. She can speak fluent English, Cantonese and Mandarin, and also be familiar with both North America and the British music system. Students from different backgrounds would benefit from adapting into the local system easily. By combining the conservatory and contemporary way of musical education, she collaborates with different formats of teaching, ensuring students could build up their understanding of music in depth and keep their interest at the same time. All of her students are inspired and motivated as well as fulfilling their musical potentials in youth orchestras, RCM examinations, and bands. Sabrina is also an enthusiastic composer who graduated from Simon Fraser University in 2021. By studying music composition under Owen Underhill and Sabrina Schroeder in SFU, her compositional styles are included but not limited to electroacoustic and acoustic pieces for small ensembles and solo. She also loves to use objects to explore and experiment on the different combinations of tonalities in sound. Currently, she is experimenting in various creative composition projects with her students.
