Emily Seto-Hughes is an accomplished classical musician and educator. She received a fellowship from the University of Toronto to complete her Master’s degree, which specialized in Music Education.  Throughout her time at the university, she has been the recipient of numerous awards, including the Nancy E. Hardy Music Education scholarship, Doreen Hall scholarship (2015 and 2017), Donna and Richard Holbrook scholarship, Arthur Edward Redsell schoalrship, Richard Ioweth Thorman Jazz scholarship, and the Lloyd Bradshaw Prize.

She holds a diploma in Piano Performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music, a Bachelor of Music Education with Honours from the University of Toronto, as well as a Certificate from Carl Orff Canada. Her pedagogical approach is deeply rooted in providing her students with a holistic education that fosters an appreciation for music. Emily’s musicality has given her the platform to speak and perform at institutions in Canada, the US, and Europe. Following her passion of optimizing cognitive development through kinesthetic learning, Emily completed her Children’s Yoga Teacher certificate, and teaches classes throughout the GTA.

Emily’s students have successfully completed RCM exams and participate regularly in performances throughout the community. Outside of the piano department, Emily is active in the Royal Conservatory’s Smart Start classes. Emily is also a proficient chorister, and sang with the MacMillan Singers at Lincoln Centre in New York City.

When she is not at a piano, Emily enjoys taking martial art classes, analyzing rap lyrics, and going on adventures with her dog, Poco!
