Sofia Smyrnioudi received her Bachelor’s in Elementary Education from the National University of Athens. She also holds a Diploma in piano performance from the Orpheum Athens Conservatory and a grade 10 degree in French Horn from the International Conservatory of Athens. She continued having piano masterclasses in Austria with Katerina Polyzoides(Graz University) and horn lessons with Hector McDonald (Vienna Symphony Orchestra). In Canada, she became an OCT certified teacher and holds an M.Ed. from the University of Toronto (OISE), with a focus on teaching a Second Language through music. She got into the Early Childhood Music Educator program at the Oscar Peterson School of Music, taking Orff, Kodaly and Early Childhood courses as well as a Teaching Elementary Piano course.

Her working experience in Greece includes being a classroom teacher (SK-gr4) in public schools and teaching piano at the International Conservatory of music. In Toronto, she has been teaching music at Metamorphosis elementary school for the last four years and has worked as a music teacher in various educational settings, such as North York Ismaili Centre and Playloft Preschool. She enjoyed playing the French Horn in Athens Youth Orchestra, Markham Concert Band and Aurora Community Band. She joined the faculty of the Oscar Peterson School of Music in 2016, teaching Smart Start classes.
