I worked as a pianist in China National Opera House in Beijing. China in the 1980s. I graduated from the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, China and the University of Helsinki in Finland. I received a Master of Arts degree from the University of Helsinki in 1991. I taught many children playing the piano in China, Finland, and the United States before I immigrated to Canada in 2005. I have been an advanced piano teacher certified by the Royal Conservatory of Music since 2015.
I have been teaching children playing the piano in Toronto since 2005. Hundreds of my students have successfully passed RCM Level 4 through Level 10 exams with a good score. My goal not just helps students prepare and successfully pass RCM exams but teach the students playing the piano in the most effective, comfortable and easy way. I help all my students to play the piano and enjoy the music. I like singing melodies of piano music for my students and also encourage all my students to sing while playing the piano. Chopin used to ask his piano students to sing while playing the piano as well. Horowitz emphasized making the piano as a singing instrument. Piano music is related to both art and science.
On April 6, 2022, I received an invitation from Royal Conservatory of Music. “Dear Alan Yuanping, As you know, we recently announced the details of the upcoming, livestream event, “Music Lights the Way”, in Koerner Hall on the evening of April 27th. As a distinguished RCM teacher, we invite you and a guest to join us in person at this momentous event. “
