LeRoy Villanueva

I am a classically trained baritone with over 40 years of international performance experience and a teaching career spanning private instruction, masterclasses, adjudication, and directing since the mid-1980s. I’ve taught voice, diction, and stagecraft at Chapman University, Pepperdine, Cal State Long Beach, Pasadena City College, and served as a diction coach for productions at UCLA. I’ve directed numerous opera and musical theatre workshops, and written educational librettos for LA Opera’s In-School Opera Program. Fluent in French, with working knowledge of Italian, Spanish, and German, I’ve performed and trained across Europe, Asia, and the U.S., including a 70-recital U.S. tour under Columbia Artists. Honors include top prizes from the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, NATS, the San Francisco Opera Schwabacher Award, and a study grant from the Richard Tucker Foundation.
