Malcolm Gillis

After achieving my ARCT diploma in performance, and a Bachelor of Music degree, I began teaching piano privately near New York City. Moving to Ontario in 1969, I became a teacher in a very arts-oriented high school. Teaching music and English during an almost 40-year span left no time to teach piano privately, but I began doing so again after my retirement in 2007, continuing until the present time. About 10 years ago I became one of the teachers associated with the Canada Music Academy, which is based in Brockville. My studio is still there, but many of my students are in Ottawa. I am one of the few teachers in the Academy who teaches primarily in-home, but I also teach online with students in Toronto and elsewhere, as well as in-person in my home studio. For information about rates, teaching philosophy, as well as testimonials, go to the Academy website. Copy the following link: https://canadamusicacademy.ca/search/teachers/?page=1&cityID=32. Choose ‘piano and keyboard’. On the next page, choose piano, in-home lessons, and enter this postal code: K2A 1Y9, which is one of the areas in Ottawa where I teach. That will bring you to my profile. Finally, I also teach music theory, including Harmony and History, at all levels except ARCT.
