Internationally acclaimed Lithuanian pianist Rasa Vitkauskaite has been praised for her “artistry of poetic and observant sensitivity” (Gramophone) and described as “a Beethoven interpreter of penetrating insight” (Fanfare). She is the principal pianist of the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, a Steinway Artist, and a voting member of the Recording Academy, and has performed in more than 30 countries worldwide.
Season highlights include the launch of The Bridgetower Project, a major artistic initiative exploring the story and legacy of the violin virtuoso George Bridgetower, with a performance at Carnegie Hall this fall. In 2027, Rasa will release the complete Beethoven Violin Sonatas with Tchaikovsky Gold Medal–winning violinist Ilya Kaler.
Her album A Concert Piano Christmas at Boston Symphony Hall was celebrated by Gramophone for its “remarkable high-wire acrobatics,” while Limelight praised its “masterful technique and palpable sense of joy.” Her recording of Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 20 in D minor and Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in C minor has been compared to the legendary Rudolf Serkin recording with the New York Philharmonic, and she has also recorded Mendelssohn’s Double Concerto with violinist Ilya Kaler.
Rasa won the Grand Prix at the Mendelssohn Cup Piano Competition in Italy and was featured on Chicago’s prestigious Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series, broadcast live on WFMT and affiliated stations nationwide.
An avid chamber musician, Rasa performs regularly with clarinetist Jonathan Cohler and violinist Ilya Kaler, and has collaborated with artists including James Buswell, Irina Muresanu, Julia Bruskin, and Franklin Cohen.
A dedicated pedagogue, Rasa has recently given masterclasses, private lessons, and chamber music coachings at institutions and festivals around the globe including Ohio University, University of Akron, National University of Rosario (Argentina), Carlos Gomes State Institute (Brazil), the “Ciutat de Xàtiva” International Music Festival (Spain), Longy School of Music of Bard College, and New England Conservatory Preparatory School, among others.
In addition to her active performing and teaching career, Rasa is a highly sought-after adjudicator, having most recently judged competitions for the Granite State, Steinway Society, University of Rhode Island, Westfield State University, and the Massachusetts Music Teachers Association Bay State Piano Competition and Musical Achievement Evaluations, among others.
