Terrence Wu

Terrence Wu Terrence is 21 years old and is studying at Western University (London, Ontario) pursuing a Master’s Degree in Piano Literature and Performance. Terrence is studying with Stéphan Sylvestre, an Associate Professor and Head of the Piano Performance Studies Department at Western University. Terrence has volunteered as a musical performer at the Niagara Health System (NHS) Hospital and at the Royal Henley Retirement Residence in St. Catharines. He performed his first Lecture Recital on Mozart’s Sonata K. 331 when he was 15 under the Brock University Mentorship Program. Terrence is the two-time winner of both the Fred Pattison Piano Competition and the Maritsa Brookes Concerto Competition. He performed a solo piano recital and Beethoven’s third piano concerto and performed Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G with the Western University Symphony Orchestra. These past two summers, he has worked with the Niagara Symphony Orchestra as an Executive Assistant and as the Patrons Relations Coordinator. In June 2022 Terrence came first, with a mark of 95% in the Canadian Music Competition National Finals in Québec City. He has also received Third Prize at the OMFA Finals for solo piano and First Prize in the concerto class for his performance of Liszt’s First Piano Concerto. In May 2023, Terrence received an Honourable Mention in the Prestigious Oakville Concerto Competition for his performance of Prokofiev’s First Piano Concerto with Dr. Connor O’Kane. He has performed for world renowned pianists including David Jalbert, Louise Bessette ,Stéphane Lemelin and Stephen Runge. Outside of Terrence’s musical life, he enjoys badminton, cycling and volleyball.
