Royal Conservatory Orchestra makes its Carnegie Hall debut on May 7, 2024 in Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage

Peter Oundjian, Stewart Goodyear, and the Royal Conservatory Orchestra

The Royal Conservatory Orchestra consists of students from The Royal Conservatory's Glenn Gould School, an elite post-secondary institution focused on performance. The Orchestra is considered one of the finest training ensembles in North America.

Based in Toronto, Canada, the 137-year-old Royal Conservatory is one of the largest and most respected music education and performing arts institutions in the world and a Canadian cultural icon. Our over 5,000,000 alumni include distinguished artists such as Glenn Gould, Oscar Peterson, Angela Hewitt, David Foster, Diana Krall, and Sarah McLachlan, as well as individuals from all walks of life including actors Simu Liu and Sandra Oh, and hockey player, Scott Niedermayer. Today, over 500,000 students are taught the RCM Certificate Program, considered the gold standard in music education, by 30,000 independent music teachers. 

Led by acclaimed Conductor Emeritus of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Maestro Peter Oundjian, the Royal Conservatory Orchestra will perform: 

  • Kelly-Marie Murphy: Curiosity, Genius, and the Search for Petula Clark 

  • Ludwig van Beethoven: Piano Concerto No. 5 in E flat Major, op. 73 (“Emperor”) with inaugural Royal Conservatory Artist-in-Residence, pianist Stewart Goodyear 

  • Pyotr Il’yich Tchaikovsky: Symphony No. 5 in E Minor, op. 64
